Marketing for businesses in south Tenerife, in English
If you run a bar, a holiday let, a clinic, an activity or an agency anywhere between Los Gigantes and El Médano, your customers are searching on a phone, in English, deciding what to do in the next twelve hours. Almost nobody down here is set up to be found in that moment. That is the whole opportunity.
No commitment and no lock-in. We reply within one working day.
5.0
Reviews from our Google profile, translated from Spanish.
The twelve-hour window you are not showing up in
Down here the decision is made on a phone, a few hours before it happens, usually in English. Your opening hours, your photos, your reviews and your position on Google Maps decide it — not your brand, and not how long you have been trading.
- People in your area searching in English each month
- 500
- Who click one of the top three local results
- ≈ 60%
- Choosing between three businesses that are not you
- 300
- Over a season
- 1,800 decisions
Not one of them ever knew you existed, so not one of them appears anywhere in your figures. It is the most expensive thing on this page and the hardest to notice.
What is different about selling down here:
The decision window is hours, not weeks
Somebody in a hotel in Playa de las Américas at six in the evening is choosing where to eat tonight. Most of the work is making that one moment go your way.
Half the searches are in English, and hardly anyone bids on them
“Restaurant Los Cristianos”, “dentist Costa Adeje English”, “car hire Tenerife south”, “things to do Adeje”. English searches here are cheaper in Google Ads and less contested in SEO than the Spanish equivalents, because most businesses only cover Spanish. It is the clearest gap on the island.
Reviews are the product, in practice
For hospitality and activities, your rating and your recent reviews do more selling than anything you write. Getting reviews asked for properly and answered properly is unglamorous and it moves the needle harder than a redesign.
Your season is somebody else’s off-season
Peak here is the northern European winter. Anyone running your marketing on a mainland Spanish calendar is pushing your offers in the wrong months and going quiet in your best ones.
Your customer arrives by plane with a phone
No car, sometimes no data, walking. Site speed, click-to-call, a map that opens, a WhatsApp button. The basics, done properly, beat anything clever.
Three things we hear in the south every week
“All my business comes from Booking, TripAdvisor or the tour desks.”
And every one of them takes a cut, so a direct booking is worth roughly two of theirs. The point is not to leave the platforms — it is to be findable directly by the people who already discovered you there. That margin is the fastest money in the whole exercise.
“My competitors do nothing, so why bother?”
That is the best possible reason to do it now. Being the only business on your street with proper tracking, a filled-in Business Profile and English pages is a real advantage, and it costs far less to win here than in a competitive market. It will not stay that way.
“We are only open half the year, so it is not worth it.”
It changes when you spend, not whether it is worth doing. Ads switch off out of season; the SEO and the Business Profile keep working, because people search for next winter in October. A seasonal business that goes completely dark online restarts from a worse position every single year.
Where we would start with a business in the south
In this order, because this is the order that brings enquiries soonest.
The Google Business Profile
Categories, services, hours including holidays, photos that are not four years old, and a routine for asking for reviews. For a local business down here this brings more enquiries than the website, it is the most neglected thing we find, and it is free.
An English page for each thing you sell
Written for the English search, not translated from Spanish. Usually four or five pages, and usually enough to start appearing for phrases nobody else here covers.
The phone path
Click-to-call, WhatsApp, a map that opens, and a site that loads on hotel wifi. Then tracking, so we can count the calls instead of guessing.
Google Ads on the English searches
Cheap, uncontested, and it works the week it goes live. This is where we would put the first paid euro for most businesses down here.
Then the slower work
Full bilingual SEO and social, once the fast things are done and we can see what is actually converting.
What working with us looks like
Four services, and the part that matters most to a seasonal business: you can stop.
Everything in both languages
Pages, ads and captions written for English and Spanish searches separately, not run through a translator. This is the single biggest lever down here.
We come down when it needs doing in person
Shoots, meetings, a walk round your premises. Day to day it is calls, email and WhatsApp, which is how any account is run — so nothing waits on a diary.
Reporting a busy owner can read
One page a month: what we did, what it cost, what came in, what is next. In English. During the season nobody has forty minutes for a deck.
Spend that follows your season
Ads up when the demand is there and down when it is not, with the slow work done in the quiet months. An agency that proposes the same budget twelve months a year is selling you their own convenience.
What it costs depends on how many services and how many languages, and on the state of your site and your profile. You get the number in writing after the free review, and there is no minimum term on anything.

After the review we agree a target with you in writing — measured enquiries, at six months for SEO or ninety days for paid. If we do not reach it, we carry on without charging for the management until we do. At ninety days you see the data and decide whether to carry on, with no penalty and nothing to untangle, because every account is in your name.
Three conditions, and all three are on your side:
- Tracking goes in from day one, so we are both looking at the same number.
- We can publish the changes and the content on the dates we agree.
- Somebody answers the enquiries. Down here a reply tomorrow is a lost booking.
And the thing we will not do: take on two businesses in the same trade in the same town. If we already work with a dive centre in Los Cristianos we will not take the one next door, and we will tell you on the first call rather than after you have signed.

It works well if
- Your customers are visitors, residents from northern Europe, or both.
- People search for what you offer — food, an activity, a treatment, a rental, a property.
- You can answer a message within a few hours during the season.
- You would rather have direct bookings than platform ones.
It does not, if
- You are already full all year and cannot take more. Genuinely, save your money.
- You want an agency with a desk in Adeje above all else. That is a fair thing to want and we are not it.
- Enquiries go unanswered for days. Everything on this page will just make that more expensive.
- You want the cheapest quote. There is always a cheaper one.
Where we work down here
The towns the businesses that contact us are in, from west to east.
Adeje and Costa Adeje
Hotels, restaurants, clinics, activities and holiday lets, plus the whole Playa del Duque and La Caleta stretch. The most competitive part of the south, and the one where the English-language gap is widest.
Arona: Los Cristianos, Playa de las Américas, Las Galletas
The densest concentration of British and Irish-run businesses on the island. Bars, restaurants, dive centres, boat trips, estate agents, dental and aesthetic clinics.
Granadilla and El Médano
Watersports, surf and kite schools, accommodation, and the businesses serving the airport and the industrial estate. Much less competitive in search than Arona or Adeje.
Santiago del Teide and Los Gigantes
Boat trips, whale watching, restaurants and accommodation. Small enough that a well-built website and a filled-in Business Profile can put you top of the pile.
San Miguel and Golf del Sur
Golf, residential complexes, holiday lets and the services around them. A resident and long-stay market more than a one-week one, which changes what is worth advertising.
Who we work with in the south
We only name clients who have signed off on it, so this list is shorter than it could be.
Tenerife Top Paragliding, Costa Adeje
Paragliding flights in the south of the island, and a client of ours. A business whose customers book within a day or two of flying, in several languages — which is exactly the pattern most of the south runs on.
And the rest of the island
We also work with businesses in Santa Cruz, La Laguna, the north, the other islands and the mainland — law firms, shops, clinics, wholesalers. The numbers on our case studies page come from those, and what worked there transfers down here.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a website in English, Spanish, or both?
In the south, both — and usually English first if your customers are visitors. Separate URLs per language with the right tags between them, and the English written rather than translated. If your trade is overwhelmingly with residents, Spanish first. We will tell you which after looking at what people actually search for in your area.
I get all my business from Booking, TripAdvisor or a tour desk. Why bother?
Because every one of those takes a cut, and a direct booking is worth two of theirs. The point is not to leave the platforms — it is to have a site and a Google presence good enough that the people who find you there can also find you directly. That margin is the fastest money in the whole exercise.
Can you come and see us?
Yes. We come down for the meetings that need doing in person, for filming and for photographing your premises. Day to day it is calls, email and WhatsApp, which is how any account is run — and it means nothing waits on a diary.
Do you work with bars and restaurants?
Yes, and we will be blunt about what moves the needle: reviews, photos, Maps position and opening hours being right. Not a blog. If somebody is selling you monthly articles for a restaurant in Los Cristianos, ask them how many bookings the last one brought.
Will you take on a competitor of mine?
Not in the same trade in the same town. If we already work with a dive centre in Los Cristianos we will not take the one next door, and we will tell you on the first call rather than after you have signed.
We are only open part of the year. Does that change things?
It changes when we spend, not whether it is worth doing. Ads get switched off out of season; the SEO and the Business Profile keep working, because people search for next winter in October. A seasonal business that goes completely dark online for five months restarts from a worse position every year.
