A marketing agency based in Tenerife that works in English

We are on the island, not in an office in Madrid with a local phone number. That means we can come and sit in your premises, we know what your competition here is doing, and we know the difference between a business that lives off residents and one that lives off arrivals. All of it reported in English.

No commitment. We reply within one working day.

  • Rating: 5 out of 5 stars.

«We have been working with Santiago on digital advertising campaigns for a while now and, honestly, he is one of those people it is a pleasure to work with. He inspires confidence from the off: straight with you, quick, and very clear about where things need to go. What has surprised us most is how he handles complex paid media campaigns without ever losing sight of the results. He gets the most out of Google Ads and Meta Ads, makes decisions based on the data, and always finds a way to get more out of the spend.»

What an island business loses by being run from the mainland

Tenerife is not a smaller version of Spain. The seasons run backwards, half the market reads English, and your competitors are three streets away rather than three provinces. An agency that treats it as one more region gets all three wrong.

They are not lost to a better business. They are lost to whoever bothered to have a page in the language the person typed.

What being on the island actually changes:

  • Two markets on one island

A business in La Laguna sells to residents all year. A business in Costa Adeje sells to people who arrive on Tuesday and leave on Sunday. The searches, the seasons and the languages are different, and an agency on the mainland tends to treat the whole thing as one place.

  • Your competition is weaker than you think

Almost nobody here does the boring parts properly: tracking, a Google Business Profile that is actually filled in, a page for each service. On the mainland that is table stakes. Here it is still a genuine advantage, and it is the cheapest one available to you.

  • The seasons are not the Spanish seasons

August is not the peak for a lot of businesses here; the northern European winter is. A calendar copied from a mainland agency pushes your offers in the wrong months and goes quiet in your best ones.

  • Nobody can turn up

Photo, video, a meeting with your team, a walk round your premises. Most of what makes content work is knowing what the place actually looks like and who actually works there — and that cannot be done over a call.

Three things island businesses tell us, and what we say back

  1. “We get everything by word of mouth.”

Which is excellent, and also a ceiling. Word of mouth grows at the speed of your existing customers. The people moving here this year, and the ones arriving next week, have never met anybody who knows you — they type instead. Being findable does not replace word of mouth, it adds a second source.

  2. “Everyone here is on Facebook groups, not Google.”

Both, at different moments. The groups are where people ask for a recommendation; Google is where they check the name they were given, and where they look when they cannot wait for an answer. If your Business Profile is empty, you lose the recommendation you just earned.

  3. “An agency here will be more expensive than one on the mainland.”

It is not, and the comparison that matters is different anyway: an agency that has to be taught what Costa Adeje is in every call is more expensive in your time than in euros. What you should compare is cost per enquiry after six months, which is a number we will show you.

How we work with a business here

Whatever brings enquiries soonest goes first. That is rarely what an agency likes selling.

  1. The free review

Your site, your Google visibility in both languages, your actual competitors here, and whatever accounts already exist. You get what we would do first and what it would cost, whether or not you hire us.

  2. Measurement before anything else

Enquiries counted — forms, calls, WhatsApp — before any campaign or content. Doing it the other way round is how agencies end up unable to prove anything.

  3. The fast things

Google Business Profile, the site basics, the pages that do not exist yet. For a local business here this is usually where the first new enquiries come from, and it is often free.

  4. Then the channel that fits

SEO if you can wait and want it to compound. Google Ads if you need enquiries this month. Social if your product is something people decide on by looking. Usually two of the three, in an order we will argue for.

  5. A report and a call, monthly

Same format every month so you can compare. In English. No lock-in: if it is not working you leave and keep every account.

What we do

Four services, done by people who each do one of them all day.

  • SEO, in both languages

Being found for what people type, in English and Spanish, plus the local visibility on Google Maps that brings most of the enquiries for a local business.

  • Google Ads

For when you need enquiries this month rather than in six. Tracking set up before we spend anything, and cost per enquiry reported monthly.

  • Websites

Fast, bilingual, and editable by you. Handed over with every login in your name.

  • Social media and content

Instagram and Facebook, organic and paid, with photo and video shot on site — because we are here.

What it costs depends on which of the four you need and how much content goes into it each month. You get the number in writing after the free review, with no lock-in.

What we commit to

After the review we agree a target with you in writing — measured enquiries, at six months for SEO or ninety days for paid. If we do not reach it, we carry on without charging for the management until we do. At ninety days there is a checkpoint with the data in front of you, and you can stop with no penalty.

Three conditions, and all three are on your side:

  • Tracking goes in from day one, so we are both looking at the same number.
  • We can publish the changes and the content on the dates we agree.
  • Somebody at your end answers the enquiries that come in.

And one commitment that costs us work: we do not take on two businesses in the same trade in the same area. If we already have somebody, we will tell you on the first call rather than after you have signed.

Senior specialists, one strategy

Efecto Newton brings together senior specialists in SEO, paid advertising, analytics, web design, creative and video production. Each area is handled by someone who has done it for years, but every decision answers to the same strategy: bring in opportunities, turn them into enquiries, and measure which ones are actually making you money.

Your project does not get passed from one isolated department to the next, and it does not rest on one person trying to do the lot. The specialists share the same goals, the same numbers and the same priorities, so your rankings, your website, your campaigns and your reporting all pull in one direction.

Between them, the team has worked on projects for brands and institutions including the Cabildo de Tenerife (the island government), Danone, Diario Marca, Minor Hotels, Hays, Vans and Milanuncios.

More about the team

Whether we are a fit

We work well with

  • Businesses already trading and already profitable, that want to grow in an orderly way.
  • Owners who want to understand the numbers rather than be handed a colourful report.
  • Companies selling to both English and Spanish speakers.
  • Anyone who can answer an enquiry within a working day.

We are not a fit for

  • Someone validating an idea that is not selling yet. Marketing is not your problem, and we will say so in the review.
  • Anyone looking for the cheapest supplier on the island. There will always be one, and it will not be us.
  • A business that wants promises about positions rather than commitments about enquiries.
  • Anyone who needs an agency to also do their printing, their IT and their bookkeeping.

Where our clients are

We work across the whole island and the rest of the Canaries, but the concentrations are these.

  • Santa Cruz and La Laguna

Professional services, retail, clinics and wholesalers — businesses selling to people who live here all year. Melercasa, the electrical wholesaler we rebranded, is one of them.

  • The south: Adeje, Arona, Granadilla

Hospitality, holiday lets, activities, clinics and estate agents. This is where most of our English-speaking clients are, and it has its own page.

  • The north and the rest of the island

Puerto de la Cruz, Los Realejos, Icod, La Orotava. Less tourist-dependent than the south and much less competitive in search, which usually means results come faster.

  • The other islands and mainland Spain

Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura and clients across the mainland. Everything except turning up in person works exactly the same remotely.

Frequently asked questions

Where are you based?

Santa Cruz de Tenerife, and we cover the whole island. Being here is the point: we can come and sit in your premises, and we know what your actual competitors are doing because we can see them.

Do you only work with English-speaking businesses?

No — most of our clients are Spanish businesses and the rest of this website is in Spanish. This side of the site exists because there is a real gap: plenty of agencies here, very few that will report to you properly in English.

Can you work with my business if it is on another island?

Yes. Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura are all straightforward; the only thing that changes is that photo and video shoots need planning around a flight rather than a drive.

How big is the team?

Five specialists working as freelances alongside the agency, each in their own area — SEO, paid media, analytics, design, video. No employees. It means you get someone senior on your account rather than a junior learning on it, and we will not pretend to be a forty-person shop.

What can you actually prove?

735 clicks and 33,400 organic impressions in twelve months for nutromiciclo.com, and 86% of a year’s clicks landing in the final quarter for melioabogados.com — both straight out of Google Search Console, both with the screenshot published. Behind that, around fifteen years of work between the team, including projects for the Cabildo de Tenerife, TITSA, Danone, Milanuncios and Diario Marca. Efecto Newton itself has been trading since January 2024.

How do we start?

A free review. We look at your site, your Google visibility, your competitors here and whatever accounts already exist, then tell you what we would do first and what it would cost. If we do not see an opportunity worth your money, we will say so — that has happened and it will happen again.
